Striving to develop leadership qualities in all the student leaders of Henderson, the Student Council, under the advice of Mr. Vincent Chia, organized the first ever Public Speaking Workshop in school. Trainers from the company Take the Stage came and taught the students how to carry themselves in a speech, points to take note, as well as emcee skills. The student leaders were all very responsive and engaged throughout the camp. In the end of the 2-day workshop, a competition was held, and Kenley Chin, the NPCC CCA Head for 2009-10 was chosen as the best speaker. Congrats to Kenley!Immediately after the Public Speaking Workshop, the council had its overnight June Council Camp. It was an evening and night (yup we slept at 5am!!) of fun and laughter, bonding and sharing =)
Some of our Sec 3 councillors whom themselves attended some leadership camps during early June got together to organize all the games and activities of the camp. We had dynamic games like Amazing Race and more sedentary activities like our Grand Finale, where every group has to present a skit or performance on the theme of "Leadership" or "Teamwork".
We ended the camp with a mass cheer led by the current councillors, and eventually even the trainees joined in. It was an unforgettable camp! Thanks everyone for your participation!
